How can you make art without knowing how?
I go through life seeing beautiful things, and I get this urge to be able to show them, to somehow reflect that same feeling that I get from seeing something beautiful. Because I have this need for other people to see it the way I see it.
Why?
I don’t know…
It’s stressful and sad, very sad, not being able to express something in some way. I can’t paint something. I can’t compose a song about it. I can’t write a book.
And it’s not that I can’t. It’s just that it’s not my way of making art, because I know it won’t come out the same way I felt it.
A painter, someone who has been drawing since they were little, makes art. A chef does the same thing, trying to make someone feel something they once felt very strongly, but this time in the mouth of their customers.
How can I do it?
In my field of work, I haven’t found a way to show it.
I observe people a lot, and I have very beautiful experiences, beautiful ideas, dreams…
There was a girl, around eleven years old, hugging and playing with a man, while a woman sat next to them. The stop came, and the man stood up. He was about to get off the train with the girl holding his hand, but the girl knew she couldn’t get off.
The man got off the train and stayed looking through the window, waving at the woman and trying to wave goodbye to the girl.
The girl wouldn’t look at him. She didn’t say goodbye.
The train started moving, and her face changed.
A face of deep sadness. The face of a little girl when someone takes a candy away from her.
She held back her tears.
At that moment, I scrunched up my face, trying to hold back my own tears, because I was feeling the exact same thing that girl was feeling.
It was as if a string had transmitted the same feeling from her head into mine.
How can that feeling be transmitted just by seeing something?
By seeing an image?
I was just watching her. I didn’t know her, but I felt it.
And I understood.
Five minutes passed, and the girl had forgotten about it. The innocence of a child returned to her face.
And those black eyes started shining again, getting distracted by whatever she saw, continuing with her life.
A moment that lasted five minutes becomes a moment you carry with you for the rest of your life.
And that moment is so beautiful that it makes everything else worth it.
We live for small moments.
